Radon Mitigation System Installation

Once your home tests above the EPA's 4.0 pCi/L action level, the fix is a professionally installed radon mitigation system. Most homeowners are surprised how quick and clean the installation is – typically a single visit, often just a few hours. Here's what installing a radon mitigation system actually looks like.

Before install day

Every install starts with a short diagnostic. We look at your foundation type, where the pipe can best be routed, and your radon level, so the system is designed for your home rather than a one-size-fits-all kit. You'll get an exact, upfront price before we install anything – see our cost guide.

What happens during installation

1. Core the suction point – we cut a small hole through the slab into the gravel or soil below, the heart of the system.
2. Run the vent pipe – sealed PVC piping is routed from the suction point up and out above the roofline, interior or exterior depending on your home.
3. Install the radon fan – an in-line fan is mounted (in the attic, garage, or outside) to pull soil gas up and out continuously.
4. Seal the entry points – foundation cracks, the sump pit, and other openings are sealed so the system works efficiently.
5. Mount the manometer – a simple gauge that lets you confirm at a glance that the system is pulling suction.

How long does installation take?

Most residential radon mitigation systems are installed in a single visit of a few hours. Larger or more complex homes – multiple foundations, high readings needing more than one suction point – can take longer, but even those are usually done in a day. We clean up completely and walk you through how your new system works before we leave.

After your system is installed
